This page explains how www.harrisdistillery.com uses any information you give to us, and the ways in which we protect your privacy.
The Data Protection Act
Under the Data Protection Act 1998, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We use leading technologies to safeguard your data, and keep strict security standards to prevent any unauthorised access to it. We do not pass on your details to any third parties unless you give us permission to do so.
What information do we collect?
We collect two kinds of information from visitors to this site: Personal details you provide as part of signing up to the newsletter or membership, and site usage information from session cookies and log files.
Personal details for newsletter and membership registration
If you register for the newsletter or membership the information we collect is: your name, email address and location. This information is stored to allow us to communicate with you. We use an email marketing platform to send emails to you. Every email we send you allows you to opt-out of future communications quickly and easily.
Site usage information - log files
Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the site. The Weather (the technology provider for the website) puts together log file information from all our visitors, which we use to inform changes to the layout of the site and to the information on it, based on the way that visitors move around it. Log files do not contain any personal information.
A cookie is a text-only string of information that a website transfers to the cookie file of the browser on your computer's hard disk so that the website can remember who you are. A cookie will typically contain the name of the domain from which the cookie has come, the "lifetime" of the cookie, and a value, usually a randomly generated unique number.
When you visit our website we send you a cookie. Cookies may be used in the following ways:
- To enable the personalisation features on our website (which give you the ability to recall recently viewed pages and see information which you have input on line).
- To compile anonymous, aggregated statistics that allow us to understand how users use our site and to help us improve the structure of our website. We cannot identify you personally in this way.
- Two types of cookies may be used on this website, session cookies, which are temporary cookies that remain in the cookie file of your browser until you leave the site, and persistent cookies, which remain in the cookie file of your browser for much longer (though how long will depend on the lifetime of the specific cookie).
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies by modifying the settings in your browser. However, you may not be able to use all the interactive features of our site if cookies are disabled.
