The Spirit of The Season

As December dawns so does the realisation that Christmas is on its way and here in Tarbert we’re beginning to feel a little festive. With our distillery set firmly in the heart of Harris we’re keen to play our part in our community’s seasonal proceedings. The village tree is being hoisted just outside our doors so we’ve made a good start but we’ve much more to offer…

With our own tree now decorated, our kitchen elves in the Canteen begin their Christmas Lunch menu from December 5th onwards. They’ve created a delicious four-course affair full of local smoked salmon, festive soup, local cheese, chutneys and oatcakes and more. Seats are £20pp and booking in advance is required so just pop-in or give us a call on 01851 502212 to secure your place. There will also be mulled wine, Christmas cake and mince pies being served every day too.

Isle of Harris Gin gift sets available here.                                                              Harris Distillery Apothecary range available here.

On December 10th we invite you for a special day of drinks sampling in the distillery shop where we’ll be showcasing some of our wonderful range of fine wines and whiskies. Come along and try before you buy, there are some beautiful bottles to bring some good cheer to your friends and family, to pour yourself or just to bring to parties. We’ve lots of other great gifts too, from our new Isle of Harris Gin gift sets to our own Apothecary range of beauty products.

The 17th of December brings The Santa Run to the distillery! Organised by the Tarbert Fire Service team, Santa Claus will be setting out to tour the village in his sleigh before inviting all the local kids to join him by the distillery fire to find out what they want for Christmas. Whether naughty or nice, there will be juice and snacks for the little ones and mulled wine and hot chocolate for the adults with all money raised going to charity.

We’re also putting on some distillery tours for those who wish a festive day out with a difference on Friday 9th, Saturday 10th, Friday 16th and Saturday 17th at 11am. It’s a good chance to gather with friends and colleagues before the big day and why not combine the tour with a little lunch in the Canteen followed by some pain-free purchases in the distillery shop too? Please call to book!

Finally, we will be closing our doors for a well-earned rest on 24th of December at 3pm. We will be closed right across the holidays, opening once again on January 17th 2017. Please note that our online shops will also be closed during this period. Our last date to ensure delivery for Christmas orders is December 18th so if you require Isle of Harris Gin to see you through the Hogmanay celebrations please be sure to order before we close.

Phew! It certainly looks set to be a busy few weeks here at the distillery, the orders for our Isle of Harris Gin continue to flood in and we’re working hard to pack and ship them to all corners of the country. But we’re feeling full of cheer and happy to have such a busy workshop. After all, creating good spirits for this special Christmas season is what we do best…
